How to use the Colour Coach cards to create.
Hello & welcome to my mid week blog.
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator.
I love to create beautiful things to share with people that I love but I also sell me creations. I have been creating things in one way or another for most of my life - knitting, sewing, cooking, card making, gardening, scrap booking & hand made gifts & in 2020 after joining Stampin' Up® I decided to share my passion in a blog (craftedbyalison@blogspot.com).
In 2025 I retired & decided to spread my creative wings a little more by combining my blog, products that I had been selling on FaceBook & launching a newsletter. Some of these things I had already been doing but this time they are all in the one place. (All previous posts can be found at my blogspot address above if you would to read any of them.)
And here we are at my new site!
My mid week posts look at techniques, tools & tips, colouring ideas & techniques, sketches & funfolds. This week I am sharing a useful tool called the Colour Coach which is a set of cards with colour combinations related to specific colours in the Stampin' Up® family. There's a card for each colour & they are designed by Stampin' Up® to help you create outside of your regular comfort zone of colours.
Today I have chosen Poppy Parade which is a bold, bright red. There are three variations on each colour card to choose from & I have chosen Poppy Parade, Petal Pink & Lemon Lime Twist. I hope you enjoy my project made with this creation.

My creation came together bit by bit. I chose the Brushed with Beauty DSP as one side of the paper has a lovely washed effect in Petal Pink. I cut 3 strips & backed them with Petal Pink cardstock that had Petal Pink ink around the edges.
For the focal point I stamped a floral spray from Delightful Wishes in Petal Pink & Poppy Parade, adding Pecan Pie for the branches & Lemon Lime Twist for the leaves. I stamped a few extra, larger leaves in Lemon Lime Twist & added some Lemon Lime Twist & Granny Apple Green blends for highlights.
Two sprays of these were stamped & diecut while a further set of the flowers was fussy cut & adhered over one of the diecut pieces for a little extra dimension. These were added to the matte with a mix of liquid glue, mini glue dots & dimensionals.
While I was stamping & cutting I stamped the smaller sentiment in Pecan Pie on a strip then diecut with a banner die. The larger sentiment used a shadow die for a different effect. Both of these sentiments were added to the matte with dimensionals.
The finishing touches were some beautiful Pearlised Faceted circles on the front & matching stamping on the inside matte & envelope.

When I started this project I was unsure what the combination would look like but as it came together bit by bit I fell in love with the combination. I hope you like it as well.
So, that's my card completed. I hope you enjoyed the process & the finished effect. I will add some links to my shop for the products I used at the end of this post.
My next post is on Sunday when I will be CASEing a card from the upcoming May - August '26 catalogue
Next week's mid week post will feature one of my favourite ways to create - a funfold.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
