This week is all about colours & how to use Colour challenges in your designs.
Hello & welcome to my mid week blog.
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne Australia & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator.
I love to create beautiful things to share with people that I love but I also sell me creations. I have been creating things in one way or another for most of my life - knitting, sewing, cooking, card making, gardening, scrap booking & hand made gifts & in 2020 after joining Stampin' Up® I decided to share my passion in a blog (craftedbyalison@blogspot.com).
In 2025 I retired & decided to spread my creative wings a little more by combining my blog, products that I had been selling on FaceBook & launching a newsletter. Some of these things I had already been doing but this time they are all in the one place.
And here we are!
You may have noticed that the title of this week's blog is Mid week # 199 & maybe wondered why the number was so high? It's because I have already posted 196 other mid week blogs at my previous blog site & one each the last two weeks on this site but wanted to keep the continuity in numbers. If you would like to see what other topics have been covered in previous posts then feel free to pop on over to craftedbyalison@blogspot.com to see all of my previous posts & topics - there are 450 to choose from!
At the end of the post I will share some links to my online store at Stampin' Up® where you can purchase any supplies you think you need.
This week I am sharing a great way to create that stretches your creativity by challenging you to use a selection of colours chosen by Stampin' Up® each month. This month the chosen colours are Cloud Cover, Strawberry Slush & Peach Pie.
Let's get started!
Here is my card...

To create this card I started with a standard 14.85cm x 21cm Basic White card base & scored it in half then scored the front in half again.
I cut a another piece of Basic White measuring 14.85cm x 10.5cm to attach to the right panel of the front of the card to create an easel fold. It's important at this step to make sure you only apply glue to the right panel of the card front or the easel fold will not work.
To use the three colours of the challenge I cut a matte of Peach Pie for the front & inside plus one DSP matte from the Florals in Bloom pack & one Basic White Matte smaller than the Peach Pie mattes.
I chose Cloud Cover 5/8" Textured ribbon & Strawberry Slush Faux Linen ribbon to wrap around the Peach Pie & DSP mattes before attaching them to the Basic White layer.
On to all of the stamping. I selected Pretty Florals & the matching dies.
To continue with the challenge I chose all of the colours for the flowers, stamping the detail of the flowers in full strength then stamping off for a second generation colour for the main section of the flower. For the greenery I stamped it first in Cloud Cover & gently rolled the edges in Secret Sea for some blended areas.
Once they were all stamped I diecut them with the matching dies.
A small flower was also stamped on the inside matte.
The sentiment is from Thankful Garden & stamped in Secret Sea. I diecut it with the retired Deckled Circle dies, keeping it slightly to the right & lower to allow room for some embellishments & added a slightly larger Peach Pie matte behind it.
After making the sentiment circles I punched a Basic White & Peach Pie circle with the 1 1/8" & 1 3/8" punches. On the white circle I stamped a Peach Pie flower & Cloud Cover greenery, again using the Stamping Off method but this time I sponged a little of the Secret Sea with a Sponge Dauber.

The flowers were added to the card front at various hieghts using liquid glue, mini glue dots & dimensionals with one added directly behind the sentiment circle.
The sentiment & flower was then added with dimensionals, leaving space behind to avoid the ribbon & one of the flowers.

On the inside of the card I added the small flower with dimensionals, centring it so that when the card front is folded it will sit up like an easel.
The final step was to add a little bling with some 2025-27 In Colour Pearls.
Viola! An easy way to create a lovely card with a little 'twist' to make it stand out & up!
That's all I have for you this week. I hope you enjoyed learning how to use colour a little differently.
This card will be available for purchase in my online store if you would like to purchase it.
My next post will be on Sunday when I will be CASEing a card from one of the catalogues. You'll have to come back to see which one.
The next mid week post will be my 200th so I'll be incorporating a few different techniques for a special creation.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating.
XX Alison.
