How to create 4 cards from one piece of stamped cardstock

Hello & welcome to my mid week blog.

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator.

I love to create beautiful things to share with people that I love but I also sell me creations. I have been creating things in one way or another for most of my life - knitting, sewing, cooking, card making, gardening, scrap booking & hand made gifts & in 2020 after joining Stampin' Up® I decided to share my passion in a blog (craftedbyalison@blogspot.com).

In 2025 I retired & decided to spread my creative wings a little more by combining my blog, products that I had been selling on FaceBook & launching a newsletter. Some of these things I had already been doing but this time they are all in the one place. (All previous posts can be found at my blogspot address above if you would to read any of them.)

And here we are at my new site!

I've had a really busy week as I prepare for my first ever market stall at a local school. I'm kind of nervous but excited too. I make a lot of card over the course of my posts & need a way to share my creations & hopefully this market will give me the opportunity to make room in my stash for all of the creations I have planned for future weeks. I have a friend sharing my stall with me (hubby's at bowls!) & fingers crossed, we have a lovely time chatting, crafting & selling.

Now, the title of today's post is 4 corner stamping but in actual fact, the stamping in this project is all done in the centre of the cardstock. The '4 corner' element of this technique happens after you cut up your cardstock. I have used this technique before but have always used a floral theme as it's easy to create a bouquet of flowers in the centre of cardstock but I wanted to stretch myself a little, plus I needed a few more male cards for my stash!

Let me show you what I mean.

In this photo you can see that there is a large area in the centre of a piece of Basic White cardstock that has been stamped with a variety of images.

The images are from Trusty Tools & are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, Secret Sea, Smoky Slate, Real Red, Basic Gray, Pecan Pie, Shaded Spruce & Crushed Curry. There's also a little bit of colouring with Darling Duckling & Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to fill in some areas that are not covered with a stamp from the set.

Once all of the stamping & colouring was done I cut the cardstock into 4 card fronts then trimmed 6mm from 2 sides of each front. This allowed for a contrasting matte to fit behind each front before attaching to the card bases.

I cut 4 mattes - Crushed Curry, Secret Sea, Real Red & Shaded Spruce to pick out the colours from the images & attached one stamped image to each colour then to a Basic White card base.

Next was the sentiments.

I chose a combination of sentiments from Trusty Tools, Beautiful Butterflies & Fabulous Sayings, all focussed on Dad or simply a male birthday.

On three of the cards I stamped the large 'DAD' from Trusty Tools then fussy cut them out & raised them on dimensionals. One also has a Shaded Spruce matte behind it for a little extra POP.

Here is the Shaded Spruce card...

Next is the Real Red card...

Secret Sea is next...

And finally, the Crushed Curry which is not a 'DAD' card but a general, male birthday card...

They all have just a sprinkle of embellishments to finish them off. I used Moody Palette Glossy dots, Faux Bronze Pentagons & Flower Accents (I know right? but they work!)

Now here are the 4 finished cards...

I love how they turned out!

I really enjoyed making this different version of the 4 corner stamping technique & it was such a quick way to create 4 cards in one go. I could have cut the stamping into more pieces to create more cards but I liked the amount of image when cut into 4 & creating more from the one sheet can be covered in a future post.

That's all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed this technique & perhaps may even try it yourself?

My next post will be on Sunday & I will be sharing how to make your own gift bags from Designer Series Paper.

Next week's mid week post will feature a card sketch - always a good way to inspire & try new layouts.

I hope you can join me for both. I have included some links to my online store if you would like to purchase any of the products from today's post.

Til next time, take care & keep creating.

XX Alison
